COMMUNITY CHALLENGE
Turkey Tuesday & Win Wednesday
Let’s Win KC, an initiative sponsored by the KCMO Health Department, is thrilled to announce that for the third consecutive year, it is partnering with the KNOW JOEY? Foundation to present Turkey Tuesday and Win Wednesday. These impactful events will take place at the Kansas City Urban Youth Academy, 1622 E. 17th Terrace, Kansas City, MO 64108. Now in its seventeenth year, the KNOW JOEY? Foundation created Turkey Tuesday to provide food, goods, and services to improve community well-being during Thanksgiving week. This year, the events continue with an expanded focus on healthy living—both mind and body.
On Turkey Tuesday, November 26, 2024, from 7am – 7pm, the community is asked to bring donations of turkeys, non-perishable foods, and toiletries to the Urban Youth Academy, in the 18th & Vine district. The event will feature the presence of renowned personalities and community supporters.
Then, Win Wednesday, November 27, 2024 from 10am – 1pm, the community is invited to participate in an uplifting event filled with positivity, motivation, and support. Participants are asked to register in advance at knowjoeyfoundation.org to receive donations of the turkeys, non-perishable foods, and toiletry items. The term “Win” symbolizes healthy living. In that spirit, beyond food distribution, Win Wednesday will also feature various sessions, including a mental health panel other fitness and health professionals will be onsite as well.
“We look forward to another great, WIN Wednesday and thank our partners for their collective commitment to uplifting our community,” said Ken Lumpkins, Marketing Director at the agency, Blue Symphony LLC, and director of Let’s Win KC. “This year’s event will include job and economic development information to help support the goal of this year’s recipients becoming next year’s givers.” says Lumpkins.
Joseph Thomas, founder of the Know Joey? Foundation, states, “We realize that food only goes so far, but providing mental health and other wellness resources, we’re enabled to more fully support the whole individual, especially during this season when the holidays can be particularly rough for those experiencing loss.”
Volunteer and monetary donations are welcome for this year’s activities. For more information, please visit the knowjoeyfoundation.org or letswinkc.com.
